Onion Rings
1 large onion, sliced into thin rings
1 cup flour
1 Tbsp "Creole Seasoning" (see Misc. Recipes at back)
1 egg
3 Tbsp water
salt to taste
Peanut oil
Pour the vegetable oil into a large skillet and start heating the oil to 375 degrees. Combine the flour and "Creole Seasoning" in a large plastic bag like a trash can liner. In a large bowl, beat the egg with the water. Add the onions to the bowl and toss to coat the onions with the egg mixture. Remove the onions to the plastic bag and toss to coat with the flour mixture. Use a thermometer to get the oil to the right temperature. Fry the onions until golden. Remove to paper towels and sprinkle with salt.
Our comments: These never seem to make it to the table. They just taste to good not to eat with your fingers as soon as they ready (they are best when hot and fresh). They make a great appetizer!
