Rum Swizzle

1/2 cup Gosling’s Black Seal Rum

1/4 cup lemon juice

1/4 cup sugar syrup

6 dashes angostura bitters

1/2 cup Barbados rum

5 oz. pineapple juice

5 oz. orange juice

Dash of Triple Sec

Combine all the ingredients in a quart jar and shake vigorously until a frothing head appears.  Pour into a pitcher with crushed ice and stir until chilled.  Strain into cocktail glasses and serve.

 

Our comments:  We celebrated Mimi Nolan’s 40th birthday in Bermuda.  Blake and Jack Collier threw the perfect party at their house, with dinner on the lawn,  a live island band, couch dancing and a midnight ocean dip.  Rum is one of the island’s principal exports, and the Rum Swizzle seems to be the national cocktail.  We found the best hamburgers and Rum Swizzles at the Swizzle Inn.  This is their recipe.
